Wm Wilburn, 2nd and 3rd Cav Arkansas

I am researching family history of my great-grandfather, William W. Wilburn/Wilbourn. He was born in GA abt 1820 and was is Cooke County TX by 1850. Census records show that William moved his family back to Arkansas, somewhere around Little Rock, in 1861 and that he and the family were back in Texas by 1866.

Family legend says that he and a brother John traveled to Arkansas to join the Union army during the Civil War. I found listings in the Civil War Soldiers & Sailors System for William Wilburn, 2nd Regiment, Co L, Union Cavalry, Arkansas. There is also William Wilburn, 3rd Regiment, Co C, Union Cavalry, Arkansas.

I would like to order the CMSR for William (and John when I locate his record), but would like to be sure it is the right person. Is there any place I could find more information on these soldiers before I actually order the CMSR? I would appreciate any help you might have. I am a real newbie when it comes to researching war records. Thanks!
