Re: Wm Wilburn, 2nd and 3rd Cav Arkansas

Amy,
I have not heard of Thomas Jefferson Wilburn from Arkansas. I do believe that my William Wesley Wilburn/Wilbourn was connected to some of the Wilburns in Arkansas. His fourth child, a daughter named Joanna R. Wilbourn (later married to a Mayfield) was born near Little Rock AR in 1861. All of his other children were born in Cooke Co Texas, including his youngest, Hiram S. Wilbourn who was born in 1866.

The family story is that William Wesley Wilburn moved his family from Texas to a safer place in Arkansas when the Civil War broke out. It is possible that he had relatives in that area and took the family to stay there while he was gone. At the end of the war he returned to Cooke Co Texas. I just received information from a cousin that it is possible he fought under his Cherokee name of McGuire. So I am starting a new search.

Hope you find Thomas Jefferson Wilburn. We may actually connect up somewhere along the line.
