Thanks, Alan. OF course, the man I have in mind was NOT that old, and I wonder if that age wasn't a mistake? I can't imagine they would have taken volunteers 70 years old at the beginning of the war. That was my question; could this be wrong? My John was born 1813. I may never solve this riddle of whether he really was my g-g-g-grandfather. I do appreciate your help, and I have posted on the Mississippi site now.
