howdy --

I am lucky I find this site.

My g-g-grandpa was David B Brown 1822-1865 (listed as DB Brown on your website) and he is listed with the 8th Arkansas Battalion. In fact I am related to everyone in the "Black River Rifles" surnamed Brown, Wayland, and Richey, and there are several of us listed.

I know David was taken POW at the Battle of Corinth, Ms, in 1862, and was told he was paroled 8 days later. I have it written down that he died 5/1865. I don't know how he died, but supposedly it was in Lawrence County where he lived. But he is not listed in any cemetary I've found in Lawrence County, so I wonder.

The family has no record at all of what he did from after the Battle of Corinth until his death in May 1865. The last 3 years of his life are a mystery.

Where can a person go to research this? Any help at all would be a blessing. Thanks.

Vance Hawkins
