The 4th Arkansas Battalion never actually got to Chattanooga on this march. Bragg began evacuating the city about September 6, 1863, so the battalion stopped at Dalton, Georgia, on September 17. They married up with Bragg's forces and fought at Chickamauga on September 19-20, then returned to their camp at Meridian, Mississippi, arriving there about October 1.
