Much of the information I have found on my men in the 10th actually comes from Union sources since they were captured. I have on Joseph Turney the interview he underwent at Jefferson barracks in St Louis right after his capture. Also hospital records from Point Lookout Maryland where a Turney was exchanged to a hospital in Richmond VA, then re-captured when the city was taken, and shipped back to hospital in Maryland. No wonder he nearly died....

The thing I cannot seem to find are the records on some of them when they were first captured on Price's Campaign thru MO and Kansas. I know one was at Fort Scott, how would I find if that is where he was captured? That would be Union records, right?

On my Turney in the 36th, the family story is he was wounded, and taken back home and just never went back. Wouldn't he have been listed as a deserter? Are there any hospital records for Arkansas? I have been told he was in hospital in Little Rock. Was that a hospital town like Richmond was?
