Bryan,
Thanks for the info on the location of Wittsburg AR. My gr.grandfather, Wade Webb of St. Francis Co.Ar. was in Co. B of the Fifth Infantry. According to his confederate records, he joined in Wittsburg on June 12, 1861, in Capt. Frisk's Co. and was enrolled by Col. Walker. He was on the record of paroled prisoners who either surrendered, captured or deserted in Forsythe GA on 9-12-1864. He took the oath on May 18, 1865 at Newbern N.C. Do you or anyone else know if Newbern was a location for a confederate prison? I know that others in that regiment surrendered at Greensboro N.C. in April of 1865. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.
