Through mid-October of 1862, Brig. Gen. James Spencer Rains commanded a brigade and acted in T.C. Hindman's absence as commander of Confederate Forces in NW Ark and SW Mo. He had a brigade of infantry (Missourians?) near Elkhorn Tavern, AR in September of 1862. Can anyone identify the units in this brigade?
