Off on a tangent

But since this post pertains to a regiment that belonged to Fagan's/Hawthorn's Brigade I thought I would bring it up here.

Does anyone know what became of Hawthorn's/Cocke's Regiment after the brigade retreated from Little Rock during the fall of 1863? While they were an integral part of the brigade at Prairie Grove and Helena, they seem to have vanished by the time Jenkins' Ferry came around- though their previous commander, Alexander Hawthorn, took command of the brigade. According to the history you provided, and the detailed account by Chaplain J.M. Brown pertaining to the battle of Jenkins' Ferry, this regiment was apparently no longer with the brigade by the spring of 1864. I checked the link that has the regimental histories of all infantry regiments, and that seemed to indicate that the regiment was still part of the brigade and fought at Jenkins' Ferry. My guess is that the history is in error.

Does anyone know what became of this regiment during the spring of 1864, and did it ever rejoin its original brigade after Jenkins' Ferry?
