Re: Battle of Peach Orchard Gap

Dear Jim and Bryan,
Thank you for the help. I found some information that says some people started calling Peach Orchard Gap by the name of El Paso ("The Pass") starting in about 1835, because it was located between Cadron Ridge and Bull Mountain. So they are one and the same. This is in White County, AR.

Jim, I'm not sure what "OR" stand for. Is this some kind of record?

My gr.gr.gr.grandfather Stephen J. Phillips Jr. died in either Nov 1861 or 16 April 1862. The 1862 date comes from a military record, saying he died in the Battle of Peach Orchard Gap, AR. So it's likely that the battle took place on April 16th, 1862, or shortly before. He is supposed to be buried there, also. My next move is to look into cemeteries in that area.

If anyone sees a refernce to this battle again, please let me know where you found it. Thank you very much.
