Dear Bryan,
Thank you very much for all of the info, and the fast response. A cousin did the Civil War research on Stephen Johnson Phillips Jr., hence my reason for not knowing something simple like "O.R.". This research shows that he's buried in a military grave at Peach Orchard Gap (El Paso, AR).

I'm in Michigan, but we'll be going through Conway AR next summer(only 20-30 miles away from El Paso AR?) I'd love to see where he's buried. The cemetery records online don't mention anything about military graves in White Co. Would you know of any cemetery in your area where some of these soldiers could have been buried? I'll be short on time, so could you suggest the best place (local library/historical society, etc.) for me to look for info on the skirmish that took place?
