It's been about a month since Mr. Meeks kindly posted the letter from my gg-grandfather, Lewis Corder. I've been pleased to see the reaction by several participants here.
If there is anyone who has researched the Third Trans-Mississippi Volunteers, could you tell us what was the mechanism in those days for notifying next of kin of the death of their loved one in battle? I've wondered how Lewis' wife received the news of his passing.
