By no means am I questioning the story that you are relating to, but my question is how did she know what signs to give? And who would showen her? I dare say it would not have been her husband. IF the Union officer seen her giving the proper signs he would not have heeded the sign or signs that she had given as a matter of fact it would have possibly gone bad for her because she knew what signs to give. Also consider the time frame, a man`s word was his reputation and his life. As my wife has pointed out in the past, her husband would never have shared so sacred a secret as to give her the proper sign. He would have violated his obligation and the Union officer would have known this as well.
