The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Thanks, Frank and Bryan! I’ve been “googling” all morning, and all indications are that these two soldiers were the sons of Governor T.S. Drew. The thing that took me off into this chase in the first place was a statement made by a descendant. She said, “Thomas S. Drew had only two sons that lived to be adults, Joseph Drew and Ransome Drew. None were in the civil war (this from the Drew Family Genealogy Forum).” I have, in fact, located James Drew in the Randolph County 1880 census, aged 40, and teaching school. His age and his parent’s birthplaces, TN and MO, strongly suggest that this is the same James Drew found in the 1860 Sebastian County census (and that he did live to adulthood). I have not found Thomas M. in any subsequent record, but I’ll keep looking.

I think I am just about convinced that the two soldiers in Company H were the sons of Gov. Drew.

Thanks, again. This is a great message board.
