Would you know of any primary sources from soldiers from Jefferson County in the following units:
Co H or K 2nd Ark Inf
Co H or K 18th Ark Inf
2nd Ark BN
THese units had lots of Saline County soldiers (now parts of Grant Co.) and just looking for anything to add to my thesis research on Saline co. soldiers. Looking for letters, diaries, even post war reminiscences. The only thing I know is CPT Parrish of Co H 18th Ark Inf. If you know of anything please let me know. I currently have numbers of letters from 1st Ark INf, Crawford's Cav, 11th Ark Inf, 1st Mtd Rifles, 20th Ark, 24th Mo (US), 25th Ark Inf, Hawthorne/Cocke's 39th Ark Inf (aka 6th Trans Miss) as well as various Saline County folks, parents etc and diaries and reminiscences of others. I just don't have a lot from the southern portion where the most slave owners lived. I noticed that the townships down there, with the exception of one, did not want to have a Secession convention when it was first put to the vote. I guess I will have to check with Grant Co. Museum to see what they have. Wish Mr Goolsby was still there, he was always a very knowledgable and great help.
