Yes, I made the comment that Porter was not there and that he had to have gotten his information from secondary reports. Porter did like to "Blow his own horn" so to speak. That was not too uncommon with any of the senior commanders. But I am also sure that this account is NOT a total figment of Porter's post war imaginations either.
