Yes, I know my late mother's two sisters and cousins are alive. It was their grandfather (1840-1928)
who fought at Shiloh and all over the South with the 5th Tenn. Then we have a whole potful of great
grands within my family who still claim a connection to that fact with the youngest not yet 21.
If you only multiply ever 40 years, you can claim some serious historcial connections.
