Charles A. Cox son of Joseph Cox union soldier was married to Elna Marie Griesel. Turns out its very very likely that Elna Marie Griesel is my name sake. I just wish I had had the chance to meet this wonderful lady. I have clues but their isn't anyone available who knows for sure. It is a make sense sort of thing, as both the Rau and Griesel families lived north west of pawnee on farms during the same growing up years of my dad and Elna Marie Griesel.
Neighbors, friends years and years ago sometimes named their children after them.
My maiden name is Rau. Wish I could find out for sure. It is so very very likely because of the time frame and location of where the families lived as well as confirming her name is Elna Marie per a reporter of the Tulsa World. Confirming in her fathers obituary they lived North West of Pawnee. I have cousins that still live North West of Pawnee. I confirmed my grandparents Rau had a farm North West of Pawnee.
I tried contacting the schools and the Pawnee Historical Society without success to confirm. I contacted by phone Charles Cox but at 93 all he could tell me is that he remembered my dads name, was all.
maybe my clue is Elna Marie Griesel was telephone operator at Pawnee Oklahoma for many years and I've always loved to communicate by telephone, talking on the phone is my main way to communicate since I was 2 and had a play telephone.
I do have a sense of humor. HaHa,
