J.A. Scott

The compiled service records of Jesse A. Scott, Company H, 3rd AR CAV, reveal that he was wounded and captured at the Battle of Mine Creek, KS, on 25 OCT 1864. His records further reveal that he ended up at Camp Morton Military Prison, Indianapolis, where he died either on 9 FEB 1865 (Find-A-Grave) or 11 FEB 1865 (cemetery listing).

From everything I can gather, the 3rd AR CAV was not at Mine Creek. In addition, there is a soldier buried in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, named Jette H. Scott, CO.K, 1st AR CAV. The 1st did participate at Mine Creek. I have not found Jette listed on any roster.

Could Jette and Jesse have been same man? Was any part of the 3rd ever absorbed into the 1st? If this turns out to be the case, I wish to correct the cemetery listings on the Find-A-Grave website, as well as inform those in charge of the cemetery itself.

Any clarification is very appreciated.
