He shows up as dropped during Sep-Dec 1863 from 3rd Ark Cav. I can't find an enlistment into the "1st" but a number of units called themselves that. Crawford's 1st/10th; Monroe's 1st/6th; the 6th Battalion Ark Cav all of which served at Mine Creek. The 6th BN was absorbed into the 2nd Ark Cav under Slemons which was hit hard at Mine Creek. It could be he was in that and later absorbed into the 2nd. Either way, he did serve in the 3rd Cav and was captured at Mine Creek. He died of Smallpox at the post hospital on the date stated that you have. Records were lost and poor at best late in the war in the Trans Miss. It is probably him that is buried there and the name is misspelled.
