I'm showing 5 John or John T. Scott's on the soldiers and sailors system. The 8th Arkansas' John Scott was actually John P. Scott. If your John Thomas Scott was from White County at the time of the Civil War all the others are unlikely. Any more information you can give us would help. Not being in soldiers and sailors doesn't necessarily mean he did not serve.
