Re: Patrick Cleburne Memorial Service

I believe that the General would prefer Irish whiskey, not the Tennessee version.

Sad to say that the location is isolated and subject to vandals. However, I will say that the site is in remarkable better shape than it was 25 years ago. The whole confederate cemetery was in a sad state of neglect overgrown with weeds trash and graffiti painted and scratched into the larger monuments. We use to have the police called on us, in the early days, every time we were up there firing our salutes.

General Cleburne is a well respected personage among those who study the history and we have had some noted speakers and others in attendence at these services in the past including the noted author Shelby Foote before his passing. It is ashamed that more people do not understand or appreciate history as the bottle in the picture reminds us.
