That is correct he did rarely drink. But did on rare occations mostly medicinal. My comment was on the General being Irish, not a Tennessean.

Stonewall Jackson is another who was a tee totaler but did on occations drink brandy. Most as a toty to ward off illness. His comment was that he didn't drink lest he grow to love it too much.

There have been a lot of improvements in the cemetery over the past few years. Helena is trying to embrace it Civil War heritage more lately, mostly because of the tourist dollars that are available. However Helena has it crime problems just like everywhere else and the Cemetery is isolated.
