In Response To: J.H. Black ()

J H. Black enlisted as a Private in Captain McSwine's Company, Arkansas Infantry,
"C" Co. AR 26th Infantry May 12, 1862 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, recorded as Absent, On Detached Duty as Aid [sic] to Gen. Hindman on the companies muster roll dated August 12, 1862, no further records

[Note: He apparently was subsequently dropped from the rolls as he is not recorded on later muster rolls which date to February 29. 1864, I have not been able to find another record for him in Arkansas units]

* This company subsequently became Company C, 26th Regiment Arkansas Infantry.

The regiment was designated at various times as Morgan's Battalion Arkansas Infantry, 3rd Regiment Trans-Mississippi Infantry, 3rd Regiment Arkansas Infantry, Morgan's Regiment Arkansas Infantry, and 26th Regiment Arkansas Infantry.
