Stephen Wallace, age 26, enlisted as a Private in Captain Capers' Company of Arkansas Infantry* June 9, 1861 at Berlin, Arkansas by Captain Capers for the duration of the war, recorded on December 31, 1862 as, wounded and at Buchanan[?] Hospital, Virginia September 20, 1862, present on February 28, 1863 muster roll, wounded (Ball Elbow & Thigh) and left in the hands of the enemy at Gettysburg, Pa., July 3, 1863, captured July 4, died August 22, 1863 in Gettysburg Lertterman General Hospital by Amp. L. Arm, complaint: G. Fract. R. Arm, Amp. R. Arm, buried in grave #35, 4 Sec. Genl. Hosp.

[Note, one card says Left arm, another the Right]

* This company subsequently became Company B, 3rd Regiment Arkansas Infantry

April 27, 1862, employed as a Brigade Teamster July, 1862, October 31 reported on sick leave, sick in Knoxville at the end of the year, present on the Jan. & Feb,, 1863 muster roll, captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4, 1863, Stephen D. Lee's Brigade, paroled July 8, discharged September 16, 1864, captured as a straggler at Selma, Alabama and paroled June 1865
