These people are found at various times before, during and after the war just all over the map of the eastern KS Terr (displaced by Order #11, mainly to Ft. Scott), western, southern, and east-central (again, Order #11, mainly to Rolla) in MO, and in the northern tier of counties in AR. The strongest concentrations of the cluster were in Ozark/Howell/Dallas/Taney/Stone, Ripley, and Lawrence/Barry/Jasper Co, MO and Jackson/Sharp/Independence/Lawrence and Fulton Co in AR.
It is a big order to try to pin these people down, but I promised someone I would give it the experienced genealogist's shot.
The men in my above surname list were either (and in some cases both) Union or Confederate. I hope someone has more information about the men below (only a few whom I have not yet pinned down). If you recognize any surnames in the list at the top, please get in touch. The list below is from couchgenweb).
I can't find this Vanderford or Vanderfourth (looks like it might be Bailey P.) and these two Howards later. Also, was Hart an alias of Levi J.H. Hart's, if anyone has his Hart records?
