The Weaver Light Artillery (later Marshall's Battery) served in the Trans-Mississippi Department; spent quite a bit of time in the Indian Territory. It was later redesignated as the 3rd Arkansas Field Battery. In August 1862, a cadre from Marshall's Battery formed Blocher's Arkansas Battery (later redesignated as the 7th Arkansas Field Battery). From all accounts, the Weaver Light Artllery (named in honor of Lieut. Omer Rose Weaver, of the Pulaski Light Artillery, killed in action at Wilson's Creek) was one of the better artillery companies in the TMD.
