John Dearing McGeehee's Regiment Arkansas Cavalry

I found his name and age on the muster roll of McGeehee's Regiment.
I want to know more about John Dearing, I want to know about why they were in Missouri the experiences they had. How were they captured, what happened? What happened to John? His uncle TW Dearing was captured also and died of small pox. I only know that John was suppose to be paroled on 25 May 1865 at Wittsburg, Ark. I want to know the prison he went to? Did he end up in Alton, Illinois Also or was he left in the Saint Louis prison? Anything you can help me with I would be most grateful. Is there somewhere I can read about their battles?
John Dearing Private
age 24
Company A McGeehee's Regiment Arkansas Cavalry
Paroled 25 May 1865 Wittsburg, Arkansas.

Thank you
Linda
