His records are filed under the name J. P. Fancher

J. P. Fancher, Private, Company E, 1st Battalion Arkansas Cavalry (Stirman's), enlisted January 1, 1862 at Washington Barracks, captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4, 1863, paroled July 8, 1863, no further records

Believe he may have served as Commissary Sergeant as his file contains requisitions for rations, one of which contains his signature. There appears to be a title under his name, however, I cannot read it on-line. There are no post Vicksburg muster rolls in these records, thus, we cannot ascertain his subsequent service.
