Have you run across evidence of a post or occupation of Fayetteville in Dec. 62? I find no reference to a "post" there yet but Wiley Britton says Blunt moved his supply train there for safety the night of the battle of Prairie Grove, assuming there was going to be a second day, under Gen. Salomon with the 9th Wisconson and parts of other regiments. Later in December, Blunt moved his train back to Rhea's Mill where his division was camped and Herron was still camped at Prairie Grove. I would assume there were some Union troops there -- cavalry picket or something -- but have found no reference to support that.
