Mark: Your ancestor, George L. Dickson, Go. G. 6th Arkansas Infantry is listed among the Decesased Confederate Prisoners of War who were captured by Federal Forces at Murfreesboro, Tennessee after the battle. His date of death is listed as Jan. 2, 1863. He was first buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Murfressboro, Tennessee, but that cemetery was dug up in the 1950's to make way for a Gulf Oil (now BP) service station. The Confederate Graves were moved to Evergreen Cemetery and placed in a Mass Confederate Grave (aproximately 2,000) there. There are various sites on the web where you can find photograhs, etc.

The listing of the Confederate Deaths came from: War Dept. Records Group 109, Reel 38 of 145, titled "Confederate Prisoners of War who died in Murfreesboro, Tennessee....."

Hope this is of some assistance.

Sincerely,

Tim Burgess
