A whole lot of the 51st Militia seem to have avoided regular service. Of those who did go on to serve, most joined the 35th Arkansas Infantry, some joined the 34th Arkansas, and a few joined the 4th Arkansas Cavalry. About an equal number went over to the U.S. side, with many joining the 1st Arkansas Infantry, and other scattered U.S. regiments.
