I have some records showing that John Calvin Griffin enlisted as a Private in Co. C, 9th Arkansas Infantry on July 25, 1861 for a period of one year. He still appears on the rolls in October 1863 (I'm assuming he re-enlisted, but don't have any actual proof). He was discharged at some point due to chronic illness. On his way home after his discharge he was killed and left in a well (or a cornfield...maybe a well in a cornfield). I'm having a hard time determining 1) if he re-enlisted or his term was extended due to illness (did they do that?) and 2) when he was actually discharged. I'd appreciate any help I can get on this.
