There were several skirmishes and one engagement within forty miles of Des Arc in late August of 1864. Engagement of Long Prairie/ Ashley's Station/ Jones' Hay Station all basically the same fight, August,24th. Skirmishes in the area between August 23rd and September 6th at the following places: Devall's Bluff, Brownsville, Cypress Bayou Bridge, Bull Creek, Searcy and Augusta. I don't know if the 10th Mo was at any of these, but they had to be around. Units that were at these fights were Shelby's 5th, Mo Cav., Shanks, 12th Mo Cav., 9th Mo Cav., Jackman's Regt. Mo Cav., Hunter's Regt. Mo Cav., McCray's Cav. Brigade, Williams' 11th Mo Cav., "Doc" Rayburne's Rangers, Collins 2nd Mo Field Artillery and Jeffers, 8th Mo Cav. There may have been other units, like the 31st Ark Inf. and some the old 6th Mo Cav.
