sorry lol No William was a Reb.. Freemans Brigade was on the Confederate side. So was his Brother in Law Lt H.H. Mc Farland memtioned in the letter. It appears that a couple of his Campbell brothers were in Freemans unit also. They all came back. But I am hoping to figure out which battle he fell in. If I can determain which battle Col Freeman was wounded in.. that should help narrow it down. right now I have copies of 3 letters. one in aug of 1862 from Col Freeman to Capt. William L Campbell, one from William to his wife in March of 1864, and the transcript of freemans in May 1862. Both William and Col Freeman were in Alton Militery Prision together. and there appears to be connections between the two families in Licking, Texas county Missouri.

I am hoping I can find out which battles went on.. and maybe which he fell in.. and if I really really lucky.. where he is buried at. this fimaly grouping had taken my interest. and I would very much love to tell thier story.
