Thank you. My soldier is SAMUEL WILBURN. I have the papers on his widow's pension. He enlisted on Feb 1 1862 in Ozark, AR. He was a private in Clarkson's Battalion's Cav. Independent Rangers Company A . His brother-in-law, Thomas McFerren, enlisted with him and served in Company A. He iwas one of the witnesses for the widow, Mary Wilburn when she received her pension in 1916. He swears that "he (Samuel) served until the close of the war and was paroled, he did not desert-the same." Samuel died Dec 4 1893. Was Company A with Clarkson till the end of the war? I only have two muster cards for this Samuel. There is a lot on a Samuel Wilburn in the 34 AR. I want to make sure these are not the same man.

Family legend says that Samuel was captured and sent to a Union prison. There is a Samuel Wilburn listed on Little Rock AR Confederate POW records--Samuel Wilburn of Thompson's Reg Company E or C (hard to read) was captured in Polk County on Feb 1 1864 and confined July 1 and transferred to Rock Island June 23 1864.

Thank you so much. This is all new territory for me. Y
