The two best-known examples in Arkansas were the Federal capture of a Confederate supply train at Longview, in Ashley County, on March 29, 1864; and the Confederate capture of a Federal forage train at Poison Spring a couple of weeks later on April 18. In both cases, commissaries, quartermasters, teamsters and train guards were suddenly in the middle of a shooting war. Several hundred on both sides were captured.
