My first idea was that maybe it had been part of Collins Battery that took so much damage at the battle of Cape Girardeau, but that was before we found out the manufactering information. Also been told that prior to the Battle of Poison Springs that Marmaduke's men robbed a train and took 2 brass howitzers. After the skirmishes in the southern part of the state they moved north to begin the raid. Is it possible that instead of coming up through Powhatan and Pocahontas they used the Crowleys Ridge Military road??
