John and Jasper , brothers of W.R. enlisted in the Adams Reg.One of them wrote his mother after Prairie Grove telling that many of the unit did not have shoes and they could barley walk.Those were some tough old boys, I don't think I would have been able to keep up, Arkansas rocks would have been sharp and cold.
