That true, and you may be correct, But many of the European saber bayonets followed simular construction patterns. It is true that the Enfield two band rifle musket was a popular weapon and many were imported to the south. The question is how did such a first class weapon come to the hands of an Arkansas Lieutenant so early in the war that a photograph would be taken of the Lieutenant holding it? Such first class weapons were rarely issued to Akansas Troops even if he was an officers.

It is a truely remarkable photograph when all factors are considered.
