One tidbit of info, Benton was never officially under Union control, it was no man's land, controled by both sides at different times. Co H of the 4th Ark Cav Union did organize there and maybe some others when the Union forces held the city. There was a fort built there that both sides used. Numerous skirmishes around there as both sides patrolled etc. Just thought you might want that info.
