I hate to ask because you have been so thorough in all of this, but where does Desha's 7th Arkansas Battalion fit in to this story? I know he was left at Pitman's Ferry by Hardee, was still there during Borland's Militia activation in November 1862 and I think McCaver mentions him there as late as February, but then sources indicate that Desha's unit was at Cornith with the 5th Arkansas during the Battle of Shiloh, so it appears that Desha moved ahead of the rest of the White River Forces, indeed before the rest of the Army of the West, to Corinth, arriving before but not participating in the Battle of Shiloh?
