38th Arkansas Infantry Reg.

On the roster of the 38th Arkansas Infantry (Co A) there are 10 men listed as captured on December 25, 1863 in Ripley Co. Missouri. There are many more in other companies of the 38th stating the same thing. Per Jerry Ponder in "Between Missourians", as the Missouri State Guards' 15th Cavalry Regiment (CSA) were enjoying their Christmas dinner on Pulliam's farm in Southwestern Ripley County, they were attacked by companies of the "Union Missouri State Militia"---more than 200 mounted cavalry men, led by Major James Wilson. It became known as the "Wilson Massacre". Mr. Ponder states that there were 150 officers and men of the 15th plus about 60 civilians and 102 prisoners at Pulliam's that day. The 38th Arkansas Infantry (CSA) troop movement list mentions nothing about Ripley County or Pulliam's farm. Can someone explain????
