Date: Friday, 14 May 2004, 4:51 pm Looking back through records for Carlton's Cavalry on Ed and Byran's website, I noticed quite a few soldiers that were captured "January,1865,Desha County". Was there a Union offensive action in this area at this time? I know about Osband's raid that took place at this time, but Osband's reports do not mention capturing any soldiers in Desha County.
Some of these soldiers were part of a Desha County Militia unit that became a company in the 7th Kentucky MTD Inf- then became Co E, 13th Ark Inf. By May of 1864 some of these soldiers were back in Desha County Arkansas serving under Captain Reginald Thompson, "commanding Confederate forces in Desha County by order of Kirby Smith". I found this information in the Naval OR's.
