Here is another good one, years ago Grant Co Museum director put out a facsimile of a newspaper from the time period and using historical,facts, made a newspaper that covered battle of Jenkins Ferry and other historical events of the time. All ficticious but based off facts. I believe he even explained it was not a period paper. But you would not believe how many times people have argued with me about it and put out some of the articles as fact and will not believe it is a made up newspaper. It is posted on the Gerdes website as well and folks think it is real. There was no Merry Green Press and no such place as Saline Territory..there was a Saline Co. But it was presumed folks or serious researchers would see that and understand. The person who sent it to the website played it off as real as she believed it was.
