Well, in Arkansas it was quite common for some to start out in CS forces and then switch over to US. Conway Co. tended to be overrun after 1863 by US forces. It may have been join the US or be labeled as enemy. Or at the beginning it may have been join the CS or be labeled enemy and then when US forces got in the area they could switch. So hope that gives an idea of how your folks thought "back then". WIthout finding all of them on 1860 census, hard to separate them at this time... but if you have more info might help get it solved.. I do believe the son, Jesse did start out in CS service as did his uncle P G Reynolds as well as cousins...later, with his dad, all enlisted in US forces. If you noticed they all enlisted on the same date.
