My understanding was that before the war Fort Washita was a major depot for supplying the frontier. That these weapons may have been left behind when the federal army evacuated that post as part of the post armaments because of the lack of harness.

I know that when Hindman dispatched the detail from Camp Sulphur Springs to get those guns they had to take the harness with them to get the guns.
