James Samuel Burnett - Bugler with the Ellis Blues

I am hoping to find out something about James Samuel Burnett who served in the Civil War for my family history, and to find out where he is buried and if he has a headstone

James enlisted August 20, 1861 at Waxahachie, Texas in the 61st Bat, Parson Brig at the age of 22 & was the 1st bugler with the Ellis Blues. He came to Texas with his father, Washington Jefferson Burnett, when he enlisted.

He was killed in the war in Cottonplant, Ark. He served under Capt. Wm. J. Stokes, Cav. Co. Ellis Blies, Ellis Cty, 4th Regt. Col. Wm. H. Parsons Co,dg., TST. Tr. To CSA. Enlisted August 20, 1861 at Waxahachie; Mus. in August 22, 1861 for 12 months unless sooner dischg'd., at Camp Tarrant; Mus. out of state serv. at Camp Hebert, 10.28.61.

Remarks: R & F 128; Mus Off. W. H. Parsons; Wm. J. Neal, A. M. Maddox & Rhos. Haley; Val. H. 5155 HE. #25, Guns $30 - Total $210; Serv, 2 mos & days; 12 miles from place if must.; 195 miles from place of discharge to place of entry; Comm. 30-61; 1 mus. Roll in duplication dtd. August 22, 1861 to October 28, 1861; 1 valuation roll, 3 supplemental lists of men; a petition for pass state troops with roll.

If anyone can help me find where he is buried, I or what happened to him, I would really appreciate it. It is my goal to help furnish a headstone to as many family members who served in the Civil Was who do not have a headstone. So far I have accomplished the for (3) of my family/ancestors, and hope to do the same for as many as I can. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Sandy
