Re: confederate bushwhackers in north Arkansas

Have heard this same story at family reunion for over twenty years. Except that the Tyson boy was mentally challenged. and other things were done to the family. Cant understand why the Harps were allowed to be buried in the Shaddox Cem. No early connection that I know of and they were not involved in any of the murders and burning of cabins though they were Union. Who wrote the first hand story of the Harp murders? One other story regarding the Harps is that they were all drinking also and passed out drunk and Tyson or who was leading the men cut a strip of skin from the back of the Harp gang and made a hat band. This has been told by different members over the years. If true, maybe no one wanted to tell the details.
