Linda, No I did not know there was a Francis Marion in the Rev. War. But I do know there are several Francis Marion's that are my ancestors. There were 2 Francis Marion Wise's, one my GGGrandfather lived Spalding County, Ga. The F.M. in my post lived in the in Butts County, Ga. ( which is right next to Spalding Co.) My GGGrandfather's brother in law was a Francis Marion Kinard (killed at the Battle of Ellison's Mill, in Va. during the war) Now I find out there is another F.M. Wise. I finally found The F.M. from Butts County in the 1870 Butts County Census, but there is no mention of his wife or his son, and none of them show up in the 1880 census, in Georgia or Texas.
Thanks for the encouragement, but I have been trying to tie Alvord Texas to my middle name for years, but am not giving up. thanks for the reply
